A systems-wide understanding of photosynthetic acclimation in algae and higher plants
2017
The ability of phototrophs to colonise different environments relies on robust protection against oxidative stress, a critical requirement for the successful evolutionary transition from water to land. Photosynthetic organisms have developed numerous strategies to adapt their photosynthetic apparatus to changing light conditions in order to optimise their photosynthetic yield, which is crucial for life on Earth to exist. Photosynthetic acclimation is an excellent example of the complexity of biological systems, where highly diverse processes, ranging from electron excitation over protein protonation to enzymatic processes coupling ion gradients with biosynthetic activity, interact on drasti…

Learning Research Methods and Processes via Sharing Experience in a BLOG
2006
The goal is to increase knowledge about different research methods that have been employed in the information technology field by supporting the information exchange, collaboration, and cooperation between researchers. Well-designed, well-told stories can help others learn from past situations to respond more effectively in future situation. A blog is presented where PhD students and researchers are invited to collaborate by providing their stories, reading and commenting existing stories. This infrastructure allows researchers and PhD students to write the contents posing questions and finding answers on the relationship between research process and research results.
From Nowhere to Everywhere
2017
International audience; This paper presents a synthetic view of a variety of projects built upon an Erasmuss Mundus Master Course. It highlights double degree programs, European credits transfer, joint PhDs, research collaborations as well as few other related European projects going from Thematic Networks to another Erasmus Mundus Course.
AESOP 2012 PhD Workshop and Conference
2012
Turkey hosted this year two of the most important European academic urban planning events; The 26th AESOP 1 Conference 2012 in Ankara from 10 to 14th July, and the co-organized PhD workshop between AESOP and Young Academics Network 2 in Izmir from the 6th to 9th July.
Terrorismo e sistema penale: realtà, prospettive, limiti - Presentazione del corso
2017
Postgraduate education and job mismatch in Italy: Does migration help?
2023
Doctoral graduates represent the pinnacle of education. While the importance of increasing their number has been recognised by the Italian government and there has been a huge increase in the number of publicly funded PhD scholarships, doctoral graduates still struggle in the labour market to find employment commensurate with their skills and competencies. It is against this backdrop that the role of migration becomes crucial. Exploiting Italian microdata at the census level, this study aims to investigate how human capital migration, occurring at different ‘times’ of individual's life and across different regions, could mitigate the potential education–job mismatch, which is measured here …
International experiences in early career academic development
Highlights on the difference in how PhD researchers in Italy and UK countries are supported to pursue the teaching side of academia
Tiheä, tavallinen ja joustava : tohtoriksi opiskelevan perheellisen naisen arki
2012
